Hanging of the Greens 2005

Each year we spend part of the day before Advent, preparing the church. While the adults are in the sanctuary and Fireside Room decorating, I am with the kids making treats to share with everyone while they are working. This year we made fudge, peanut butter cookies and Rice Krispie treats! We also heated up spiced cider. They finally sell it pre-spiced! Woo hoo!

Plan on coming next year and help us get ready for Advent! The date is November 25th!

December Rotation...

The December rotation will begin December 11th and will end December 18th due to Christmas.

So far, our kids have explored the Messiah by looking at David (see if they can remember how many "greats" are between David and Jesus), exploring some of the prophecies of Isaiah and learning how the 23rd Psalm's imagery of a shepherd relates to who Jesus is in our lives.

December's theme is "Jesus as the Fulfillment of the Prophecies." Tentatively the kids will be in two workshops. In the Fun Zone, the kids will create a yarn web whioch will connect the story of Jesus' birth to the Old Testament. They will also have a great time in the "Soul Kitchen" as they make baklava as a symbol of the many layers of prophecy that foretold the Messiah's birth.

Check back soon for the memory verse of the month!

Trunk & Treat

These are just a few of the pictures from our Frist Annual Trunk & Treat! We saw at least one hundred or so people some through and had 12 cars ready to hand out candy. Each one was decorated creatively and the high school group handed out ribbons to all the participants!

Looking forward to next year!
